A Quest for the Perfect Writer’s Notebook

This post is part of a series dedicated to teaching you how to create a writer’s bullet journal.

Why am I doing this? Let me show you:

<strong>All of my writing notes from over 5 years of work<strong>

I was first introduced to the idea of bullet journaling in 2016. I tried it for a year and loved it. But then, as always, I lost interest. Then, I started working on my novels and other writing projects full time. I didn’t have a system and kept trying notebook after notebook in an attempt to keep my ideas organized. Perhaps predictably, my notes and ideas spiraled out of control into that mess you saw above.

However, I actually muddled through writing my first novel. Still, I had four more novels to go in my series. I also successfully set up this blog (after failing miserably at my first attempt). The problem was that I didn’t have a consistent system. I had notes *everywhere*. It made keeping track of everything really hard. It was also very inefficient. So, I decided that using a bullet journal for *all* of my writing goals was the perfect solution. With these tutorials, I’m going to take you on a journey.

This series of posts will explain my exact system for creating a “Writer’s Bullet Journal,” and how you can customize one for your own writing goals.

My goal was to take everything I ever wrote for my novels and blogs and condense it all down into one user-friendly notebook. It was a monumental task. But I was determined. If you’re overwhelmed by your novel notes, check out this post for ideas on how to organize them.

Read the next installment: Bullet Journal Basics, where you will learn all the steps to set up a typical bullet journal.
